Eshamy Bay Lodge is located 50 miles by boat south of Whittier, Alaska - way out of reach of industrialized tourism, in Prince William Sound. We offer an Alaskan wilderness experience of a lifetime in one of the most pristine coastal wilderness areas Alaska has to offer, yet we have some of the comforts you don’t want to give up - clean warm cabins with real beds, hot showers, toilets and good food. We are year round Alaskans who love to share our back yard with visitors and each guest is treated as a long time friend. We cater to Alaskans and their families and friends as well as independent travelers who are looking for the real Alaska, not the standard, canned, cruise-ship style tours. Eshamy Bay Lodge is Alaskan owned and operated by rear round Alaskans.

The lodge has a maximum capacity of 12 guests so you will not have to share your wilderness experience with crowds. This enables us to provide personalized service and to preserve the pristine environment.

The Owners Mark and Mary Kulstad

Mark Kulstad was raised on the waters off Trinidad, California, and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska in 1979, later relocating to Anchorage in 1981. An adventurous Alaskan entrepreneur, Mark began his Prince William Sound Adventures with the purchase of his first sailboat S/V Anna. Since then Mark has continued to boat the waters of Prince William Sound that he loves so much as well as the waters between Seward, Alaska and Seattle, Washington for over 28 years. Mark holds a USCG 100 ton Master License and is a licensed fishing guide.

Mary Kulstad was born and raised in Alaska, learning to love the remote lodge lifestyle at a young age from her father, Robert Elstad SR, a guide, bush pilot and owner of Lake Creek Lodge on the Yetna River. In 1999, during their adventures in the sound, Mark introduced Mary to her now adopted Mother, Eleanor Malla (Miss Ellie) who owned the property in Eshamy Bay with her son Ed. Miss Ellie’s father had developed cabins and the marina on the property so that he could have his family with him while he worked his nearby set net fishing sites. The property was originally deeded to Miss Ellie and was later passed on to Mary.

Mary and Mark feel blessed to be able to share the beautiful Prince William Sound and Eshamy Bay with you.
